About the Role

Position: Senior / Principal Medicinal Chemist Location: Stockholm (Hybrid) Employment: Full-time

We are looking for a motivated, flexible, and creative Senior or Principal Medicinal Chemist to become a key member of our dynamic Research and Development team. In this essential position, you will be responsible for designing, synthesizing and characterizing new chemical compounds to support a variety of drug discovery programs. You will contribute both strategically and experimentally at different project stages and may also coordinate chemistry-related activities as needed. The role is set within a collaborative, cross-functional environment that values innovation, scientific excellence and adaptability.

Key Responsibilities

Design, synthesize, purify and analytically verify new chemical entities, small molecules and polypeptides/small proteins, for biological evaluation across multiple projects.
Act as chemistry coordinator for assigned projects, ensuring scientific standards and timely progress.
Demonstrated expertise and practical proficiency in solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), including characterization, would be a significant asset.
Provide experimental expertise and perform studies in support of Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) activities.
Support compound formulation and contribute to cross-functional project teams.
Identify and resolve synthetic or analytical challenges, ensuring robust, high-quality results.
Maintain a safe, efficient, and compliant laboratory environment, including operation and maintenance of assigned instruments.
Support activities beyond your core expertise when required — such as compound management, assay setup or patent-related work.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations and communicate findings clearly to both internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

MSc or PhD in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry, or related field.
Extensive experience in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotech setting.
Proven ability to design and execute efficient synthetic routes and troubleshoot complex chemistry challenges.
Familiarity with modern analytical and purification techniques.
Strong understanding of drug discovery processes, CMC documentation and teamwork across disciplines.
Fluent English skills, both written and spoken; Swedish is a plus but not required.
Flexible, solution-oriented mindset, proactive and willing to support activities outside primary expertise.
